The new year always brings anticipation for new things, new goals, new visions and dreams and a fresh slate to see what God can do. For us Rourke's this could never be more true.
We had a wonderful Christmas break full of downtime, time off of work for a week, special family time with us 3 as well as my family up at Mt. Baker for 3 days. We really felt relaxed, refreshed and ready to take on this new year. 2 weeks in and we wondered if we really did have a Christmas break! :)
Life is busy, work is demanding, home feels like we play catch up every evening and morning, Lochlan is 1 year old - enough said there, and then me being pregnant on top of all that makes for reflection in thinking. "Why do we run this pace of life? Is there another way? Are we busy for the sake of busy or is it just 'life'? What can change so we can enjoy each season instead of count down to the next vacation?" These are things we have been pondering and seek the Lord for.
When I look in scripture, especially the gospels, I see that Jesus definitely had demands on his time everyday as he performed miracles, discipled 12 men, and traveled from city to city to speak to the crowds about who he was - the son of God. But if you dig deeper you read the scriptures that says, "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." Mark 1:35
This was such a reminder to me to once again go back everyday to the word of God and spend time with Him in prayer. Through that not only do I find the strength I need for whatever is ahead of me that day, but He is my constant source - when I am 'in balance' with the Lord I seem to have better perspective with life.
We are anticipating a GREAT 2012 and are believing for things specifically. It is through everyday being with the Lord that we will continue to walk in His will and see His continued path for our lives. How exciting is that! :)
